Urban Decay Basquiat Collection
Urban Decay Basquiat Collection. This year the cosmetic line “Urban Decay” announced that they were doing a makeup collaboration with the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat. The Basquiat Collection was set to release on April 20th featuring 2 eyeshadow palettes, a blush palette , 3 lipsticks, 3 eyeliners, and 3 cosmetic bags. Urban Decay gave the option to purchase each item in singles or the entire vault for $165.
Jean-Michel Basquiat was an American artist from Brooklyn,New York. Basquiat started his art career as a street art duo “SAMO”. He eventually branched off , and began creating neo-expressionist art incorporating poetry, drawings, abstracts, and figurations. During his time he was close friends with the legendary artist “Andy Warhol” , and pop start “Madonna”. Basquiat’s life was short lived due to an heroin overdose in 1988.
The Basquiat Collection early released exclusively to the Sephora App on April 19th during the Sephora VIB Sale. The retail price of the “Gold Griot” was $39 , but I only paid $27. My package arrived 2 business days after I made the purchase. The Gold Griot palette featured 8 neutral shades. The shade variation was a combination of previous Urban Decay palettes.
The palette had excellent pigmentation. The colors applied like a dream. They blended smoothly , and produced no caking or creasing. Most noteworthy there was no fallout. All in all the only negative comment that I must make about this palette is that the shade variation was too similar to the colors in other Urban Decay palettes.
Using this palette I created the look on my eyes. Furthermore, the shades I wore are Levitation , Not For Sale, Sucker Punch , and Pseudonym. This palette is currently SOLD OUT . There will be a restock on April 27th.
